Description

This is a unique square format paper collage work using an original antique photogravure. It is from the “Antique Print Series” of American artist Jerry De La Cruz (b 1948, Denver, CO). The image itself is 8.25” high by 8.25” wide. This is mounted on thick, 100% rag paper.
The subject is a
surreal scene focused on travel. In a large bright blue sky, a hot air balloon is seen. In the distance, several people mill about next to a large ship moored in the icy waters. In the foreground, a large stone sphynx sits in the desert with a man’s face on its front, viewed by a nearby rider on horseback. The work is titled “Which Way to Mecca?” The palette is largely vivid blue with the photogravure gray tones across the bottom.
The work is in pristine condition and signed front lower right by the artist. (Image of framed work for sizing perspective only.)
