  • Material: Glass
  • Type of Glass: Crystal
  • Condition: Is it a bowl or a plate? Good question! It can be either or-more like a low lying bowl or a plate with high sides....Bowl is heavy and figures are cut (hand carved) from the back/bottom in a frosted, deep relief that gives the glass, it's details and dimension, while providing a flat, smooth inner surface. Research tells me that this plate was part of a "craftsmen" series produced in the early 1980s.Bowl is signed with some letters & numbers (product number) before Jonasson's name.NO chips or cracks. Edge is wavy and glass has some air bubbles. From a private collection.Pre-owned, so may have some light age related/usage scratches, but none are obvious.Size: APX 10" round-May need a good cleaning-has been in storage. No box or original sticker. Please look at all photos closely and use your ZOOM. Description

Vintage Crystal Bowl/Plate Designed by Mats Jonasson for Royal Krona Sweden-Orchestra Musicians w/Instruments-Signed & Numbered-Collectible
This is a rare and beautiful, heavy lead crystal bowl or plate, from the 1980s, by Mats Jonasson for Royal Krona Sweden.
It is embossed with the musicians and instruments of an orchestra. It's a spectacular piece of Art Glass.
    History:
Mats Jonasson was born in 1945, and he is the third generation of Master glass Craftsmen. He has developed new techniques for sandblasting glass with new ideas for designs in glass. Mats Jonnasson has been singular in capturing wildlife proportions into handmade crystal, and his feeling for shape, his accuracy of style and his attention to detail, is totally individual and has gained him wide recognition and a coveted reputation with collectors around the world.
The Mats Jonasson glassworks began as Maleras glassworks, which was founded in 1924 in Sweden.  Mats Jonasson began working at Maleras in 1959. In 1969 he left to work at Kosta, coming back to Maleras in 1975. In 1965, Maleras became part of the Flygsfors group, and then joined the Royal Krona group in 1974. Kosta Boda took over in 1977, and in 1981, the employees of Maleras bought the company and ran it themselves. In 1988 Mats Jonasson took over the company and became managing director and chief designer. The company is still in production today, under the name Mats Jonasson Maleras.
This piece makes for a stunning fruit plate or an amazing housewarming/wedding/corporate gift.
