RARE PADEN CITY "RETRIEVER"
ETCHED COCKTAIL SHAKER
Available for purchase is a VERY RARE etched crystal cocktail shaker made by the Paden City Glass Company in Paden City, West Virginia.  This 3-piece shaker is shape #902, made during the 1930's.  The Chanticleer rooster stopper represented the "cock-tail" hour and was a common motif at the time.  What makes this shaker extra special, however, is the very hard-to-find etching referred to as "Retriever".  It depicts a bird dog in a field of tall vegetation.  The name "L. Banks" appears next to the dog's rear foot, who I presume to be the artist who designed the etching.
The cocktail shaker stands about 12 3/4" tall to the top of the rooster (8 1/2" tall with lid and stopper removed).  The body of the shaker is approximately 3 3/8" in diameter.  The top is comprised of a strainer and a stopper.  I purchased this cocktail shaker at a recent estate sale, along with several others I'll be listing separately (see my other auctions).
It's guaranteed to be an original Paden City item and is pictured in the book "

Condition of this Paden City "Retriever" cocktail shaker is EXCELLENT.  I see one tiny rough spot along the top rim and some minor roughness on the bottom of the stopper.  There appears to a small amount of residue in the bottom along the edge.  I also noticed that the stopper fits a little loose, but it's original to the piece.  Overall, this scarce cocktail shaker looks fantastic and would make a wonderful addition to any collection.  Please take a close look at the many photos I've provided and judge condition for yourself.  I'm confident you'll be very pleased with this purchase.
If you collect Paden City glassware, particularly pieces with etched designs, don't miss your opportunity to purchase this offering.  As I mentioned earlier, this cocktail shaker is VERY RARE and seldom comes available for purchase.  Aside from the photo in the book, I've only seen one other example pictured online.  It might be a long time before you see another one.  My BUY IT Now price of only 9 is a bargain for this hard-to-find piece.  So buy it now before someone else beats you to the deal!
