PLEASE READ ENTIRE DESCRIPTION
This hard to find Paden City Glass Pelican is crystal clear.
Measures approximately 10” x 6” x 4.5”
Preowned vintage circa 1940s Art Deco item.
No noticeable damage EXCEPT there is a piece that has chipped off inner corner of one toe (Left foot when looking straight on at the front of the item).
It is an extremely clean,smooth break. I missed it completely when I first examined it. It almost appears to have been made that way unless extremely familiar, as the feet are not super precise to begin with. They have uneven spots and a couple of tiny random bits of extra glass along edge. The other foot also has a smooth shallow flake on outer edge of outer toe. Not noticeable and nearly impossible to capture in a photo - you wouldn’t know it was there unless looking up close for it. PLEASE SEE PICS
A few other little minor flaws observed when examining up close include: a few tiny flea bites on the base edge of feet attributed to age and shelf wear. Base is ground and polished but a tiny crescent shaped spot remains where the original pontil mark was ground and polished flat and there are a couple of slightly uneven, but overall smooth, spots on underneath side of ground base.
There are some tiny air bubbles and strawmarks here and there - original characteristics attributed to the manufacturing process.
The top of the tail feathers are a little uneven on one side and looks sort of like 2 chips when examined up close and there is a small strawmark in that spot that could be mistaken for a crack. These spots are all highly polished and match the rest of the piece and so likely also occurred during the manufacturing process and an original characteristic.
None of the above mentioned detract from function or beauty. I only declare in the spirit of being as thorough as possible in description. It is very beautiful and will make a great addition to your glass animals collection.
