Description
An original Wooden CIGAR BOX ASSEMBLAGE COLLAGE titled"GONE FISHING" - that can be personalized with a photo of the owner or lucky recipient!
by African-American artist BOB JACKSON, Philadelphia; his biography is in the photographs. He is almost 90 and has created assemblage/collage work all his life.
The box is vertically mounted on a base of Plexiglass,
an old chromo postcard of a trout and fishing flies under plexiglass is mounted on the cover.
Glued on are a gold tone dragon fly, a beetle and some "floating leaves"
when opened the right side is under glass, like a shadow box,
a cut out from an old book is showing etchings of
a Bib, a Whitefish, a Coal Fish and a Pollack.
In the description of the fish a window is cut out where one can insert a
photograph of a real fisherman. Jackson added a receptor on the back in wood with knob to do so.
Glued into the shadow box are a golden sun and a chromo lithographic cut out of 2
Victorian boys in a boat catching a fish. It looks like the boys are boating in dark waters as
the bottom of the shadow box has been blackened.
The verso of the cover lid shows an old glossy postcard of a fisherman standing in a creek,
a metal fish is glued
to the foreground "swimming" in the water.
The box measures 7" high by 6" long and 2" wider. Opens up to 12 1/2". In excellent condition
All that is missing now is the photograph of the new owner or the lucky recipient! Gone Fishing!
Father's Day is approaching!
Bob Jackson signs his work only upon request.
