MAKE YOUR KNIVES STAND OUT “Silver Streak” STABILIZED 5x2x3/8 CEDAR Scales Pair

This is for a pair (2 scales) of High Quality “
Silver Streak
” style STABILIZED (impregnated) WOOD knife handles (Scales). They roughly measure 5”x 2” and are usually at least 3/8th inch thick (1/4” is allowed either direction due to sanding and preparation. Please Message me if different or exact size is needed). I try to provide you with the most material possible to allow for any mistakes while you’re shaping, as well as allowing an extra large size option for those of us with big paws.
These scales are made from beautiful hand-selected Cedar grown, milled and cut in western Kentucky. I use two different colors of dyed Resin (epoxy) for the
Silver Streak
effect, and also heat activated Stabilizing Resin (the very popular and well preforming Cactus Juice) in making these scales. These are gorgeous Knife handles and will set your knifes apart from the rest!
ALL OF THE THESE SCALES HAVE BEEN STABILIZED. If you are unfamiliar with wood stabilization; Stabilizing wood is very very important, especially for wood that is being used on a knife. Stabilizing helps prevent the wood from expanding and contracting in various temperatures and humid environments. Non-Stabilized knife handles will move and crack over time during changing Atmospheric conditions.
These scales have been submersed in a special type of resin, then placed in a vacuum chamber. The vacuum then pulls the air out of the wood over time. Since they are submerged in resin, the resin gets pulled into and fills the small pores and gaps inside of the wood. When the vacuum process is completed, the scales are left to soak for several hours. Then they are placed in a oven and heated to at least 200°F for an hour or however long is needed, contingent of thickness. This causes the resin inside of the wood to harden thus solidifying the once porous wood into a fixed hardened knife handle. The stabilizing resin residue is then sanded off on each piece. They are then ran across a jointer to insure that they are level and have flat surface on both top and bottom. A light coat of mineral oil is finally applied for presentation.
Bladesmiths put a lot of time, sweat, and percision into our blades. The handles should be no different. These are made not only to make your knives look great, but to make them last for generations.
